Auf die Hande kusst die Achtung,
Freundschaft auf die offne Stirne,
Auf die Wange Wohlgefallen,
Selge Liebe auf den Mund;
Aufs geschlossne Aug die Sehnsucht,
In die hohle Hand Verlangen,
Arm und Nacken die Begierde,
Uberall sonst hin Raserei.

Friendship on the open forehead,
On the cheek the pleasure,
Blissful love on the mouth;
On closed eyes the longing,
